Released from Captivity

Released from Captivity

In many parts of the world, those we call “men of peace” and “women of peace” are entrusted with Proclaimers to start Audio Bible listening groups. In Chad, the widespread effectiveness of this ministry approach is revealed by both a leader and a participant from villages in distant parts of the country:

“I am a pastor and the man of peace in my village. It is forceful to come and hear the Word of God through the Proclaimer. God worked a miracle by transforming the life of a drunk in my group. Indeed, he was a man of hard character and he often beat his wife and children. But Jesus has altered his life to the point that his wife asked me if she could know what I gave to her husband to change him. Now peace has returned in this place. Jesus is good. Listening to the Word is a great blessing.”

"Today, I feel free."

“Following Audio Bible listening, I was given the grace to find freedom and victory over amulets and fetishes. I became a Christian several years ago, but I did not renounce the fetishes of my parents. I went through difficult times and was even very sick. This led me to seek the Lord by regularly listening to the Word of God through the Proclaimer. I especially held onto the part that tells us to unload all our worries on Christ because he cares for us. I confessed and got rid of the fetishes that I always kept under my bed. Today, I feel free.

My friends and parents told me that I would die soon because I burned my fetishes. Today, on the contrary, I am healthy. Jesus healed me and gave me strength. I invite all Christians who are in fear of fetishes to trust in Jesus, who has the power to release us from all captivity. I want to thank the man of peace for his outstanding work and say thank you to all those who gave us the Proclaimer. It is helping all the illiterate women in our rural area to hear the Word of God without an intermediary. Thank you to Jesus, the King of Kings.”

When Neema finally returned, her husband had . . .

A Transformed Troublemaker

“I was an evil-doer, a gangster, a thief. There is no bandit act that I did not try – unless it did not cross my mind. I was arrested several times and put into prison, where I spent more than 15 years. It was in prison that I had contact with the Word of God. One pastor used to visit and share the Bible with us. At first, I listened to him as a way to kill time, but then . . .

“Deep, awesome words!”

"I feel so lost; I'm desperate to know what I need to do with my life. I'm eager to know more about Christianity and I'd love to acquire a Bible. I'm looking for inner peace, but I feel overwhelmed with confusion. My family and community are [of another faith]. They won't answer my questions. How do I get the Bible where bookstores won't even carry it?" This heartbreaking cry for help came to us through . . .
